Three Lions Earn Medals at AMCC Women’s Invitational
HIRAM, Ohio – The Penn State Altoona women's wrestling team hit the mats on Saturday to compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Invitational, hosted by Hiram College in its Price Gymnasium.
Each of the Lions' three wrestlers earned medals. Aja'nai Jumper (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) won first place in the AMCC at 207, Camryn Steinbuch (Bedford, PA/Bedford) was the conference runner-up at 180, and Angelina Grieb (Julian, PA/Bald Eagle) placed third at 160.
As a team, Penn State Altoona finished in fourth place out of four teams with a total score of 26 points. Host school Hiram won the invitational with 66.5 points, Alfred State College was second with 57 points, and Buffalo State University came in third with 45.5 points.
Jumper compiled a spotless 3-0 record on the day to win the 207 bracket, posting three wins by fall to take AMCC gold in the weight class. She defeated Alfred State's Hannah Grawn in the first round, Buffalo State's Kai Douglas in the second round, and Buffalo State's Cecilla Williams in the first-place match.
Steinbuch went 1-1 in 180 to secure second place. In the first round, she won by fall over Buffalo State's Ariel Babb before settling for second place after a loss to Hiram's Erika Novak in the second round.
Grieb wrestled a pair of matches at 160 and took third place in her bracket. She lost by tech fall to Hiram's Allydia Byard in the first round, had second-round bye, and then was defeated by Alfred State's Allison Strausbaugh in the third round.
