Spectator Policy for Outdoor Sports on Campus
Penn State Altoona Athletics has announced its policy on spectators attending outdoor sports on campus in person during the Spring 2021 semester. Like the policy on fans at indoor sporting events, the decision was made in accordance with Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference COVID-19 protocols, along with local and state health recommendations.
Spectators WILL be permitted at outdoor sporting events hosted by Penn State Altoona.
The allowance for in-person attendance at outdoor sporting events comes with some restrictions for fans who choose to attend games on campus. Spectators will be expected to abide by the following rules:
-Fans will only be permitted to watch games from designated areas. This rule has been made out of an abundance of caution to protect student-athletes, coaches, and staff in an effort to prevent any positive COVID-19 cases, which would potentially jeopardize teams' seasons.
-Bleacher seating at the Stewart Athletic Field baseball and softball fields will NOT be available. Fans are strongly encouraged to bring their own chairs to set up in the designated spectator areas, which will be beyond the outfield fence at each field.
-Bleacher seating at the Spring Run Stadium soccer complex WILL be available. Fans may sit in the bleachers at the soccer field, as long as they follow social distancing guidelines.
-Restrooms will be available for fans inside the Adler Athletic Complex. Spectators may enter Adler via the back door, located behind the softball pressbox.
-Designated team areas will be closed off to the public and strictly limited to student-athletes, coaches, and staff members. This includes dugouts, team benches, warmup spaces, and other surrounding areas.
-Social distancing guidelines must be observed at a minimum of six feet. Spectators should put at least six feet between themselves and other spectators who are not members of the same household.
-Spectators must wear face masks when social distancing cannot be maintained. CDC-compliant face masks should be worn by fans when they are unable to put a minimum of six feet between themselves and people who are not members of their household. Fans should wear masks when moving outside of the designated seating areas, including using a public restroom.
-Spectators should not be in close proximity to student-athletes and coaches at the athletic facilities. To protect against the possibility of spreading COVID-19 to a team, fans should not be physically close to any players or coaches before, during, or after games while at Penn State Altoona's athletic facilities.
Penn State Altoona Athletics thanks you for following these guidelines. In doing so, you will help to protect the health of others while ensuring that our sports schedules will go on as planned this spring.
