Women's Wrestling Competes in JCU Duals

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Penn State Altoona women's wrestling team traveled to face Hiram College and the University of Mount Union in the JCU Duals, hosted by John Carroll University at the Athletic, Wellness & Events Center. 

For the Lions, Naomi Nachmias (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) wrestled in the 103 bracket, Richele Reyes (Buckingham, UK/Alconbury) competed at 124, and Gianna Slusser (Raleigh, NC/Garner Magnet) was at 131. 

Penn State Altoona vs Hiram College: 30-15 

Forfeits would go in favor of and against Penn State Altoona as they lost to Hiram College 30-15.  

Nachmias won via forfeit in the 103 bracket to give the Lions an early 5-0 lead. 

After two forfeits by the Lions, Reyes won by fall at 0:39 against Kretina Rai to equalize the score 10-10.  

Slusser would also win via forfeit in the 131 bracket to give the Lions their second lead of the dual at 15-10.  

Hiram got four more forfeit victories to close out the dual 30-15. 

Penn State Altoona vs Mount Union: 39-10 

Forfeits hurt the Lions as they lost to Mount Union 39-10 in their second dual match of the tournament.  

In the 103 match, Nachmias beat Mount Union's Kyler Lamb by fall at 4:10 to put five points on the scoreboard for the Lions. 

Mount Union would get two forfeits before Reyes won via fall against Olivia Gill to make it 10-10. 

Mount Union's Abigail Mozden got a technical fall victory against Slusser to give Mount Union a 14-10 lead. 

Mount Union got five more forfeits to get a 39-10 victory.
