Chamberlain Tabbed as AMCC Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona junior infielder Corey Chamberlain (Claysburg, PA/Claysburg-Kimmel) was chosen as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Chamberlain was the Lions' top hitter last week, including posting four multi-hit performances in Penn State Altoona's final seven games in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

In Penn State Altoona's 4-0 victory over Anna Maria College last Monday, March 4, Chamberlain went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run batted in, and one run scored. The junior followed that up with a walk in the Lions' 10-1 loss to Calvin University on Tuesday, March 5, then went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two walks in a 7-6 victory over Albion College on Thursday, March

Penn State Altoona split a doubleheader with Chatham University on Friday, March 8. In game one, a 7-4 loss, Chamberlain went 1-for-2 with his first home run of the season, two walks, one RBI, and one run scored. He finished 2-for-3 in game two, a 4-3 victory, with an RBI and a run scored.

The Lions wrapped their week up on Saturday, March 9, with a doubleheader against Roger Williams University. Chamberlain hit 2-for-2 with two RBI, two walks, a double, and a run scored in game one, which resulted in a 7-5 loss. He went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in game two, another 7-5 loss for Penn State Altoona.

On the week, Chamberlain batted .526 (10-for-19) with nine walks, eight runs scored, six RBI, four doubles, and a home run. He compiled a .679 on-base percentage and slugged .895.

Among all hitters in the AMCC, Chamberlain currently ranks first in walks (11) and doubles (6), second in on-base percentage (.595) and slugging percentage (.742), and third in batting average (.452) through 11 games.

Penn State Altoona baseball is 4-7 overall. The Lions' next game is Tuesday, March 19, when the team will hold its home opener with a single, nine-inning game against Hobart College starting at 2 p.m.
