Men’s Golf Wraps Home Schedule with Spring Invitational

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's golf hosted its final home tournament of the 2024-25 season on Friday, when the Lions held the Penn State Altoona Spring Invitational at Sinking Valley Country Club.

Penn State Altoona competed with its 'B' and 'C' teams in the tournament, with the 'B' squad shooting 313 to finish in sixth place out of 12 teams and the 'C' squad scoring 320 to tie for eighth place.

Juniata College and Mount Aloysius College tied for first place on the team leaderboard with matching scores of 299 on the par 72 course. Pitt-Greensburg finished in third place with 309, and Catholic University and Division I Saint Francis University tied for fourth with 312.

Penn State Altoona's individual golfer, Luke Repko (Cresson, PA/Bishop Carroll), had the Lions' overall low round, scoring a 1-over par 73 to tie for third place out of 71 golfers in the tournament.

For the 'B' team, Nicholas Helsley (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfolye) carded a 3-over par 75 to tie for 10th place individually, and Daniel Batrus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) shot a 5-over 77 to tie for 17th place.

Anthony Carson (Broomall, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) tied for 30th place after shooting 80. Sean McCullough (Kittanning, PA/West Shamokin) carded an 81 to tie for 37th, and Nicky Riscica (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) shot 83 and tied for 47th place.

Jack Ankeny (Davidsville, PA/Conemaugh Township) and Samuel Sharbaugh (Davidsville, PA/Conemaugh Township) had the low scores for Penn State Altoona's 'C' team, as each player finished the day with a 7-over par 79 to tie for 23rd place individually.

Stephen Phillips (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha Catholic) carded 80 to tie for 30th place, Maxwell Samangy (Crafton, PA/Carlynton) shot 82 to tie for 43rd, and Trent Querry (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfolye) tied for 53rd after shooting 84.

Next up, Penn State Altoona men's golf's 'A' team will return to action on Monday, April 14, and Tuesday, April 15, when the Lions will compete in the Win Palmer Cup, hosted by Wittenberg University at the Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley.
