Men’s Golf Ties for Sixth at Win Palmer Cup

SEWICKLEY, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's golf team finished in a tie for sixth place out of 11 teams at the Win Palmer Cup, as the two-day tournament hosted by Wittenberg University at Allegheny Country Club came to a conclusion on Tuesday.

The Lions shot a two-round score of 614 on the par 70 course, shooting 305 in Monday's round before scoring 309 on Tuesday.

Host Wittenberg won the tournament with a two-day score of 587, and DePauw University was the runner-up with 592. Allegheny College placed third with 609.

Peter Nusbaum (Pittsboro, NC/Thales Academy) led the way for Penn State Altoona's six-player lineup, tying for ninth place out of 72 individuals with a two-day score of 150, shooting 76 on day one and 74 on day two. Andrew Bruce (Moon Township, PA/Moon) tied for 34th place, carding 77 on Monday and 79 on Tuesday to finish with a total score of 156.

Anthony Carson (Broomall, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) tied for 38th place with 157, consisting of 77 on day one and 80 in the second day. Daniel Batrus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) tied for 48th place, firing 75 on day one, then scoring 84 on day two, to finish with a two-round score of 159.

Nicholas Helsley (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) tied for 52nd place with 160, shooting 84 on Monday before getting his score down to 76 in Tuesday's round. Sean McCullough (Kittanning, PA/West Shamokin) took 62nd place, scoring 83 in Monday's action and shooting 80 on Tuesday.

Nicky Riscica (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) also competed as an individual for the Lions, ending the tournament in a tie for 48th place with a two-round score of 159, comprised of his 80 on Monday and 79 on Tuesday.

Next up, Penn State Altoona men's golf will travel to Chardon, Ohio on Sunday, April 27, and Monday, April 28, to compete in the Dan Caschera Classic, hosted by John Carroll University at Sand Ridge Golf Club.
