Lions 'B' Team Open Region V Tourney in Eleventh Place

PORT CLINTON, Ohio - The Penn State Altoona men's golf 'B' team teed off day one of its home invitational on Monday at Catawba Island Club, competing in the first round of the NCAA Division III Region V Showcase. The Lions would finish in eleventh place on the team leaderboard. 

Penn State Altoona shot 340 as a team on the par 72 course, finishing the day eleventh out of eleven teams.  

Trine University stood atop the leaderboard at the end of round one, finishing with a score of 304. Otterbein University was not too far behind with a score of 308. Capital University would round out the top three, compiling a team score of 313. 

Daniel Batrus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) had the Lions' low score of the day, shooting a 7-over par 72 to tie for 14th place out of 68 individual golfers. Nicky Riscica (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) and Austin Duelley (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) each shot 11-over par to tie for 38th place.  

Trent Querry (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) carded a 95 to tie for 66th place. Luke Repko (Cresson, PA/Bishop Carroll) shot 103 to finish day one in 68th place.  

The second and final day of the Division Region V Showcase is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 21, with the round scheduled to start at approximately 10:00 a.m.
