Men's Golf Opens O'Briant-Jensen Tournament in 20th Place

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Penn State Altoona men's golf team teed off day one of The O'Briant-Jensen Memorial today at The Cardinal by Pete Dye. The Lions would finish in 20th place on the team leaderboard. 

Penn State Altoona shot 336 as a team on the par 71 course, finishing the day 20th out of 20 teams.   

Huntingdon College stood atop the leaderboard at the end of round one, finishing with a score of 295. Methodist University was not too far behind with a score of 302. The University of Lynchburg would round out the top three, compiling a team score of 304. 

Sean McCullough (Kittanning, PA/West Shamokin) had the Lions' low score of the day, shooting a 10-over par 71 to finish 65th place out of 110 individual golfers. Nicholas Helsley (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) shot 12-over par to finish in 84th place. Daniel Batrus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) finished in 88th place, shooting 13-over par. 

Peter Nusbaum (Pittsboro, NC/Thales Academy) carded an 88 and Jack Ankeny (Davidsville, PA/Conemaugh Township) carded a 94 on the day. 

The second and final day of The O'Briant-Jensen Memorial is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 28, with the round scheduled to start at approximately 8:30 a.m.
