Men's Soccer Blanked by Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team travelled to Chambersburg, Pa. to face the Wilson Phoenixes today, where they would lose 2-0.

The game would start out evenly, with both teams creating opportunities. Penn State Altoona (0-6) would have five shots (one on goal), while Wilson (1-4-2) would have eight shots (one on goal). Both goalkeepers would make one save each in the first half.

In the second half, the Phoenix put more pressure on the Lions' backline. Wilson mustered 14 shots, 8 of which were on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Alejandro Monjarretz (Managua, Nicaragua / St. Augustine Preparatory School) would make seven saves, six in the second half alone.

Fouls would again be the Penn State Altoona's Achilles heel, as they would concede a penalty kick in the 68th minute, which Wilson would convert to make the score 1-0. Wilson would follow their first goal with another goal twenty minutes later to make it 2-0.

Matias Harte (State College, PA / State College) and Niko Ferrales (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ / Northern Highlands Regional) would each have one shot on goal for the Lions.
