Velarde Named AMCC Offensive Player of the Week
LATROBE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona sophomore Felipe Velarde (Panama/Colegio Real de Panama) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's offensive player of the week for men's soccer.
Velarde finished last week with three goals and one assist in the Lions' two victories last week. Against Carlow, Velarde scored two goals to help the Lions win 4-1. Then, in the senior day game against Hilbert, Velarde assisted Jackson Conner (Selinsgrove, PA/Northumberland Christian) for the Lions' opener and scored the winner as the Lions won 3-2.
He finished the week with three goals, one assist, and four shots on goal.
Velarde and the Penn State Altoona men's soccer team return to action tomorrow, October 28, as they take on AMCC foe La Roche at Spring Run Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
