Men’s Swimming Earns Second Win at SVC
LATROBE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swim team returned to action on Friday night, when the Lions faced off against non-conference foe Saint Vincent College in a dual meet at the Frank and Elizabeth Resnik Pool.
Penn State Altoona recorded its second victory of the season in a dual meet, topping St. Vincent 144-118. The Lions powered their way to the win thanks to eight first-place finishes.
Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) had two of the Lions' first places, winning the 200 Yard Freestyle in 1:49.55 and taking first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:04.35.
Brian Nguyen (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) won the meet's first individual swim, when he placed first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:28.62. Later, Benjamin Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) prevailed in the 200 Yard Butterfly, clocking in at 2:10.87.
Lincoln Johnson (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) won the 50 Yard Freestyle in 23.03, defeating the second-place finisher by just 0.05 seconds. Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) got the win in the 200 Yard Backstroke, when he earned a time of 2:13.00.
Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria) grabbed a win in the 100 Yard Butterfly, in which he posted a time of 56.07. Shuo Sun (Falls Church, VA/China High Schools) placed first in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:05.48.
The Lions' next meet is Saturday, November 2, when the team will travel to Westminster, Md. to take on non-conference opponent McDaniel College. The start time for that dual is set for 11 a.m.
