Men’s Swimming Caps Regular Season with Home Win Over Panthers

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team concluded its 2024-25 regular season at home on Saturday afternoon, where the Lions defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford 134-56.

The Lions notched nine first places throughout the course of the victory, which was the team's ninth dual meet win of the season. Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) and Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) led the way with two individual first-place finishes.

Dotts' first win of the day was in the 50 Yard Freestyle, during which he recorded a time of 22.13. He later took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.00.

Traggiai first prevailed in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, clinching a time of 10:11.20 to win the swim. Later in the meet, he placed first in the 500 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 5:00.11.

Penn State Altoona opened the meet by winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay, in which the foursome of Eugene Heyman (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs), Dotts, Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria), and Lincoln Johnson (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) combined for a time of 1:39.72.

Benjamin Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) earned a first-place finish in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:00.26, and McMullen picked up a win after he finished the 100 Yard Freestyle in 50.54. Heyman also posted an individual victory, placing first in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 58.18.

The meet concluded with one more victory for Penn State Altoona, as the team of Joseph Fazio (Conshohocken, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh), Nicolas Louis (Queens, NY/Rabun Gap Naccochee), Benjamin Dotts, and Traggiai came together for a time of 1:34.25 to wrap up first place.

Now, the Penn State Altoona men's swimming team will prepare for the AMCC Championships, which run from Wednesday, February 19, through Saturday, February 22 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y.
