BUFFALO, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona men's swimming competed in the second day of the four-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships on Thursday at the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center.
At the conclusion of Thursday night's finals, the Lions continued to rank second out of four AMCC teams with a score of 152 points. Penn State Altoona was fifth in the joint AMCC-SUNYAC meet standings, which are comprised of 10 teams, and the Lions set three new team records during Thursday's action.
SUNY-Cortland was the first overall squad with 334 points, while AMCC team Penn State Behrend was the top conference team and second overall with 255 points. The AMCC standings were rounded out by Alfred State College, which was third in the conference and seventh overall with 125.5 points, and Pitt-Bradford, which was fourth in the league and eighth overall with 69 points.
Caden Traggiai (Sarver, PA/Knoch) opened the meet with a first-place, record-setting performance in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Traggiai won AMCC gold and also took first place in the combined AMCC-SUNYAC meet standings in the 500 Yard Freestyle, finishing in 4:39.58 to win the swim. His time also set a new Penn State Altoona men's swimming record, one which Traggiai himself established during last year's AMCC Championships after finishing in 4:39.85.
Also in the 500 Yard Freestyle, Nick Trabucco (Carlisle, PA/Boiling Springs) qualified for the 'B' final and finished in 4:59.86, placing 14th overall and sixth in the AMCC.

Three Lion swimmers qualified for the next swim, the 50 Yard Freestyle. In the 'A' final of that event, the team of Johnson, Hunter McMullen (Colver, PA/Central Cambria), Solimeo, and Adams Dotts clinched second place in the AMCC and third overall with a time of 1:25.37, surpassing the previous Penn State Altoona men's swimming record time of 1:25.77 to create a new record.
