Men’s Swimming Takes Down McDaniel, 139-57

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team picked up its first dual meet win of the season on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions defeated non-conference opponent McDaniel College 139-57 in the Adler Natatorium.

The Lions tallied 10 first-place finishes out of 11 events, led by two apiece from Ben Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) and Caden Traggiai (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch).

Dotts placed first in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 55.97, and he later won the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:06.32. Traggiai clinched first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle after finishing in 1:50.74, and he also had a victory in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:03.43.

Penn State Altoona opened the meet by winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay, during which the team of Pedro Teran (Allentown, PA/Parkland), Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Ben Dotts, and Shuo Sun (Falls Church, VA/China High Schools) combined for a time of 1:41.48.

In the next event, the 1000 Yard Freestyle, Teran earned a first-place finish by clocking in at 10:41.30. Sun prevailed in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.48, and Adam Dotts won the 100 Yard Freestyle after hitting the pad at 49.21. Gabe Krizel (Allentown, PA/Parkland) achieved first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke, compiling a time of 55.86.

The Lions wrapped the meet up by winning the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as Adam Dotts, Pedro Teran, Johnathan Bandy (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys), and Traggiai came together for a time of 1:32.14.

In the 200 Yard IM, Penn State Altoona picked up a second-place finish, as Jackson Ketterling (Bismarck, ND/Bismarck) recorded a runner-up time of 2:15.13.

Next up, Penn State Altoona men's swimming hits the road for the first time in its 2025-26 campaign to compete in its first multi-day event of the season, as the Lions will travel to Canton, Ohio for the Malone University Invitational. Day one of the three-day meet is Thursday, November 20.
