Men’s Cross Country Places Seventh in 2025 Debut

TYRONE, Pa. – The recently-resurrected Penn State Altoona men's cross country team made its 2025 season debut on Saturday morning, competing in Saint Francis University's Father Bede Invitational at B&D Acres.

The Lions placed seventh out of seven squads with a team score of 193 in the 6K race.

Division I Central Connecticut State University won the invitational with a score of 20, while Division I Duquesne University came in second place with 41.

Penn State Altoona had six runners compete in its first NCAA meet since 2015.

Zach Halama led the way for the Lions, placing 43rd out of 57 individuals with a time of 21:48.6. Ethan Schield (Roaring Brook, PA/North Pocono) took 48th place after clocking in at 23:22.3, and Brandon Lyle crossed the line shortly thereafter for 49th place with a time of 23:24.0.

Jack Higgins (Portland, OR/Riverdale) came in 54th place after finishing in 25:13.0, and Jordan Long was 55th with a time of 26:19.6. Lando Krouse (Schellsburg, PA/Chestnut Ridge) rounded out the squad by finishing in 29:47.4 for 57th place.

Penn State Altoona men's cross country gets back on the course Friday, September 12, heading to Erie to run in Penn State Behrend's Sunset run at 5:15 p.m.
