The Lions broke out the bats to open Friday's action, totaling 16 runs and 14 hits across just five frames.
Karli Storm (Chest Springs, PA/Cambria Heights) set the Penn State Altoona softball single-game walks record by drawing five free passes, and she scored five runs.

Kennedy started at pitcher and tossed a complete game to earn her second win of the season. In five innings, she yielded four earned runs and recorded five strikeouts.
Baney started the top of the first inning with a walk, and an infield throwing error on the next play allowed her to score from first to put Penn State Altoona on the scoreboard. After a Storm walk, the Lions executed a double steal, with Wilt nabbing home from third base to make it 2-0. After that, RBI singles to left from Best and Wadsworth put the Lions ahead by four, 4-0.
Cedar Crest closed the gap to one by putting together a three-run bottom of the first. Abby Adams drove in a pair with her single up the middle, and she scored on a fielding error later in the frame to bring the Falcons back to within one, 4-3.
However, Penn State Altoona widened its lead with a three-run top of the second. Wilt led off with a base hit and moved up to third on a passed ball and wild pitch, and Storm walked to put runners at the corners. Best scored both runners in the next at-bat, doubling to right to make it 6-3. Two batters later, a Wadsworth RBI single up the middle gave the Lions a four-run advantage again.
Penn State Altoona loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the third, as walks from Storm, Best, and Kennedy put three aboard. Beeman increased the Lions' lead with an RBI single, and Penn State Altoona went into the next frame ahead 8-3.
The Lions put a five-spot on the board in the top of the fourth. Baney's RBI single up the middle and Wilt's run-scoring base hit to right made it 10-3. After walks by Storm and Best loaded the bases again, Kennedy cleared them with a three-run single to right that upped the Lions' lead to 13-3.
Cedar Crest got a run back in the bottom of the fourth on a Madacyn Snyder RBI hit to third base.
Penn State Altoona tacked three more runs on to their total in the fifth, using a Wilt RBI single and a two-run double from Best to make it 16-4.
The Falcons made it 16-5 in the bottom of the fifth on an Adams RBI single, but Penn State Altoona finished the inning ahead by 11 to put the eight-run rule into effect.

The Bears scored the game's first run in the top of the second, when a fielding error allowed Trinity Andelin to score.

Beeman came next with an RBI infield single, and a bases-loaded walk by Davidson scored Kennedy to make it 2-1.
Bridgewater State struck back in the top of the third, using a Sydney Schaefer RBI double to tie the score before Andelin's three-run, inside-the-park home run put the Bears up 5-2.
Penn State Altoona kept rolling in the bottom of the third, however. Kennedy's RBI single through the left side scored Storm, who led off the inning by reaching on a walk. Lansberry followed that with a two-run double to left center, and Davidson's groundout to third two batters later brought home Lansberry. Baney's RBI single to right extended the Lions' lead to 7-5.
The Bears came back with a trio of runs in the next half inning to continue the back-and-forth momentum swings. Schaefer scored on another Lion error, and a two-run single down the left-field line by Arihana Mercado gave Bridgewater State an 8-7 advantage.
The Lions knotted the score at 8-8 in the bottom of the fourth, when Storm had a leadoff walk and came around to score on Beeman's fielder's choice.
