LOUISVILLE, Ky. – More postseason softball honors rolled in on Friday afternoon, when Penn State Altoona junior outfielder Riley Best (Coalport, PA/Glendale) was selected to the second team of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region VII team.
Best becomes the fifth player in Penn State Altoona softball history to earn All-Region honors from the NFCA. Last week, the junior outfielder was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection.

She led the AMCC in hits (59), home runs (10), runs batted in (61), total bases (106), and slugging percentage (.869) while also ranking second in batting average (.484) and on-base percentage (.552), third in runs scored (44), fifth in walks (19), sixth in triples (3), eighth in doubles (11), and ninth in sacrifice flies (2).
Best was the only AMCC softball student-athlete selected to the NFCA's All-Region VII squad.
Penn State Altoona softball went 24-16 overall this season, including a 12-4 AMCC record. The Lions finished second in the conference's regular-season standings and went on to reach the AMCC Championship game in last week's conference postseason tournament.
