Women’s Golf Closes Pennsylvania Classic in 11th Place

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – After the second and final day of the Pennsylvania Classic on Sunday, the Penn State Altoona women's golf team settled for 11th place.

The Lions compiled a team score of 477 in Sunday's round to finish the two-day tournament with 942 on the par-72 Penn State White Course.

Washington & Jefferson College won the team title with a two-round score of 661. Susquehanna University was the runner-up with 668, and Westminster College rounded out the top three spots on the team leaderboard with a score of 673.

Alexis Peacock (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) was Penn State Altoona's top finisher in the tournament, placing 50th individually and totaling 207 shots across two rounds, including her Sunday score of 109. Clarissa Long (Altoona, PA/Altoona) came in 53rd place on the player leaderboard, matching her first-round score of 112 to record 224 shots in two days.

Alyssa Franks (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) took 56th place, carding 118 in Sunday's round and finishing the tournament with 232. Taylor Bezdek (Great Falls, VA/Dominion) rounded out Penn State Altoona's lineup by placing 58th, shooting 138 on Sunday and totaling 279 strokes for the weekend.

The Penn State Altoona women's golf team will hit the road for its next event, as the Lions will embark on a journey to Jacksonville, N.C., to compete in the 53rd Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship. The three-day tournament, co-hosted by the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Oglethorpe University, runs from Friday, April 10, through Sunday, April 12, at Paradise Point Golf Course.
