Men’s Wrestling Drops Three in AMCC Duals

BRADFORD, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's wrestling hit the road on Saturday to compete in a trio of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference dual meets, hosted by Pitt-Bradford in its KOA Arena.

The Lions opened the day with a 48-10 loss against Penn State Behrend, then went down 46-5 to Pitt-Bradford and 56-0 to Alfred State College. Evan Davis (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), Brady Shehan (Altoona, PA/Altoona), and Andrew Weaver (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) each had a win for Penn State Altoona.

Meet One: Penn State Behrend 48, Penn State Altoona 10

Penn State Altoona began Saturday's action with a 48-10 loss to Penn State Behrend.

Davis started the meet with a victory by fall in the 125 weight class, giving the Lions the early 6-0 lead. But Behrend picked up points in the next five matches, getting forfeit wins at 133, 141, 157, and 165 while dealing Remington Fleck (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) a loss at 149.

Weaver snapped Behrend's point streak when he won by major decision at 174, increasing Penn State Altoona's total to 10 points. But Behrend got another forfeit win at 184, before Shehan lost at 197 and Jamell Locket (Palatine, IL/Wheeling) was defeated in the 285 bout.

Meet Two: Pitt-Bradford 46, Penn State Altoona 5

The Lions faced host school Pitt-Bradford in their second event of the day, suffering a 46-5 loss to the Panthers. Shehan accounted for Penn State Altoona's lone points of the dual, scoring five for the Lions with a tech fall victory over his opponent in the 197 bout.

Davis at 125, Fleck at 149, Weaver at 174, and Locket at 285 each took losses in their respective matches, and Pitt-Bradford got forfeit wins at 133, 141, 157, and 165. The 184 weight class was a double forfeit.

Meet Three: Alfred State 56, Penn State Altoona 0

Penn State Altoona lost 56-0 to Alfred State in the Lions' third and final dual of the day.

Penn State Altoona's five wrestlers were handed losses by the Pioneers, with Davis at 125, Fleck at 149, Weaver at 174, Shehan at 197, and Locket at 285 each suffering defeats. Alfred State picked up forfeit points at 133, 141, 157, 165, and 184.

Next up, Penn State Altoona men's wrestling gets back in action on Saturday, February 15, traveling to Penn State Behrend to compete in the AMCC Championships. The start time is slated for 10 a.m.
