Men’s Wrestling Faces Three in Marymount Meets

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Penn State Altoona men's wrestling team returned to the road Saturday to compete in the Brent Lancaster Memorial Duals, hosted by Marymount University at Hayfield Secondary School.

The Lions faced a trio of Division III opponents, falling 58-0 to both Marymount and to Messiah University while also losing 52-3 to Southern Virginia University.

Meet One: Marymount 58, Penn State Altoona 0

Tammar Reza (Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery), Evan Davis (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), Oliver Garcia (Bridgeport, CT/Great Oaks Charter), and Gonzalo Santana Hernandez (Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) all competed for the Lions against host Marymount.

Reza and Garcia both lost by tech fall, with Reza going down 15-0 in 1:33 in the 125 bout and Garcia dropping the 141 match 19-1 in 3:34. Davis took a fall in 1:38 at 133, and Hernandez also lost by fall in 1:59 in the 174 match.

Meet Two: Messiah 58, Penn State Altoona 0

Reza, Davis, Garcia, and Hernandez returned to the mats in Penn State Altoona's second meet of the day.

Reza lost by fall in 0:19 during the 125 match, and Davis dropped a major decision, 14-1, at 133. Garcia took a fall in 2:13 in the 141 bout, and Hernandez lost by fall in 1:05 at 174.

Meet Three: Southern Virginia 52, Penn State Altoona 3

Andrew Weaver (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) joined Reza, Davis, Garcia, and Hernandez as the Lion wrestlers in the team's third meet of the day.

Reza lost in 0:53 by tech fall, 17-2, in the 125 match, and Hernandez was also tech falled in the 184 bout, 18-2 in 1:54. Davis lost by fall in 1:19 at 133, and Garcia also lost by fall in the 141 match in 1:33. Weaver had Penn State Altoona's lone win of the day in the 174 bout, during which he defeated SVU's Tanner Giatras by decision, 13-8.

Penn State Altoona men's wrestling travels again for its next meets, as the Lions will travel to Penn College to compete in the PCT Duals next Saturday, November 22 starting at 10 a.m.
