Torres Named AMCC Defensive Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - Penn State Altoona junior Mya Torres (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper County) was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Defensive Player of the Week in women's soccer on Monday afternoon.  

In last Wednesday's game against Mount Aloysius, Torres kept a clean sheet and made three saves as the Lions would tie the Mounties 0-0.  In their Saturday game against Pitt Bradford, Torres would keep another clean sheet, making four saves to help the Lions beat the Bobcats 2-0. 

Through 12 games this season, Torres currently ranks fourth in saves (78), second in save percentage (.830), sixth in goals against (16), and third in goals against average (1.33).  

The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team is 4-4-4 overall, including a 1-1-2 record in the AMCC. The Lions will travel to Alfred, NY for their next game against Alfred State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
