Dangelo Named AMCC Swimmer of the Week for Fifth Time

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona freshman Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College) was chosen as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.

The award marks the conference-leading fifth time this season that Dangelo has been selected the AMCC's Women's Swimmer of the Week. The freshman had another standout performance for the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team during Saturday's home meet against AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend, notching three individual first place finishes – including setting one new team record – and assisting on a relay first place.

Dangelo won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.98, and she took first in the 200 Yard Breaststroke by clocking in at 2:34.73. In the 400 Yard IM, Dangelo set a new women's swimming team record by posting a time of 4:43.67 to place first. The freshman also helped her team win the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, combining with her teammates for a time of 1:49.84 to take first.

Dangelo's recognition is the seventh time this season that a Penn State Altoona women's swimmer has taken the AMCC's weekly awards.
