Women’s Swimming Falls to Behrend
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team was handed its second dual meet loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions were defeated 181-90 by Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend at the Junker Center.
Hailey Toth (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua) had the Lions' lone win of the meet in the 50 Yard Breaststroke, in which she earned a time of 35.20.
Meanwhile, Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) took the runner-up spot on the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:06.96. McKenna Holl (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) was second in the 50 Yard Backstroke after clocking in at 30.60, and Ayva Harris (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) placed second in the 50 Yard Breaststroke, finishing in 35.24.
Madison Coleman (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) came in second place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:07.26, and Petry followed that with her second runner-up finish of the day by posting a time of 27.02 in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Coleman took another second place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, after she finished in 57.46.
One event later, Harris had another runner-up finish when she placed second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:17.77. Holl notched another second place by taking the second spot in the 50 Yard Butterfly, posting a time of 29.03. Coleman later recorded second place in the 100 Yard IM, clocking in at 1:07.33.
The Lions ended the meet by placing second in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the team of Emma Fraundorfer (Altoona, PA/Altoona), Petry, Holl, and Coleman combined for a time of 1:48.02.
Next up, Penn State Altoona women's swimming will have its home opener on Friday, December 13, when the Lions welcome non-conference opponent Lycoming College to the Adler Natatorium for a dual meet starting at 6 p.m.
