Women’s Swimming Drops Meet at Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team hit the road for the first time in its 2025-26 season on Saturday, when the Lions took a 150-104 loss in a dual meet with Division II opponent Lock Haven University at the Zimmerli Pool.
Penn State Altoona posted five individual wins during the meet, with three of those coming from Drew Porter (Centreville, VA/Centreville) and two from Victoria Oldford (Bucks County, PA/Palisades).
Porter's first victory of the day came in the 200 Yard IM, when she recorded a time of 2:26.35 to finish atop the standings. Five events later, she won the 200 Yard Backstroke in 2:22.34, then secured the trifecta three swims after that, when she nabbed first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:06.37.
Oldford placed first in the 200 Yard Breaststroke by compiling a time of 2:47.04, and she had another first-place finish four events after that when she won the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:11.65.
Other highlights from the meet included several second-place finishes by the Lions.
Anna Heller (Chesapeake, VA/Huntingdon) was the runner-up in the 500 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 5:49.39, and Claire Smith (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) was second place in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:10.91. Alexis Buchala (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua) came in second during the 200 Yard Butterfly, recording a time of 2:45.0.
The Lions concluded the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as Paige Goray (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek), Oldford, Porter, and Smith combined for a time of 2:02.14.
Next, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team will travel to Canton, Ohio to compete in the three-day Malone University Invitational, which begins this upcoming Thursday, November 20.
