Women’s Tennis Loses 6-3 in Regular Season Finale

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team played its last Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season match on Saturday, falling 6-3 to conference foe Penn State Behrend at the Westwood Racquet Club.

Behrend (3-2, 3-1 AMCC) grabbed an early lead by winning two out of three in doubles play.

Penn State Altoona (2-3, 2-3 AMCC) picked up a point in the No. 1 doubles match, where the tandem of Victoria Acker (Cresson, PA/Penn Cambria)/Jessica Stevens (Altoona, PA/Altoona) earned an 8-4 victory. The win improves Acker and Stevens' record together to 3-0 this season.

The home team continued its momentum in singles play, winning the two, three, four, and five matches to defeat Penn State Altoona by three points.

Stevens notched her team-leading fourth singles win in the No. 1 match, in which she triumphed 6-3, 6-1 over her opponent. In the No. 6 match, Elani Etter (Franklin, TN) recorded her third singles victory of the season by defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-3.

With the regular season now behind it, the Penn State Altoona women's tennis team will await seeding information regarding the upcoming AMCC Tournament.
