Women’s Tennis Finishes Weekend with 5-2 Win at LHU

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team finished its busy weekend with another victory, defeating Division II opponent Lock Haven University 5-2 on the road Sunday in the Lions' third match of the weekend.

Penn State Altoona (9-1) picked up its ninth overall win of the season by winning two out of three in doubles and four of six in singles to deal Lock Haven (1-3) a three-point loss.

LHU took the No. 1 doubles match, but Penn State Altoona posted wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to earn the opening point. At No. 2 doubles, the team of Abigail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville)/Sienna Fell (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) won 6-2 for victory number seven together this season. In the No. 3 slot, Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area)/Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) came away with a 6-3 triumph for their eighth win of the season.

LHU won the No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches, but the Lions posted wins in the rest to earn a three-point match win over the home team. At No. 2 singles, Rachel Stricek (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) won 6-3, 6-2 for her fifth victory of the season, and Fell recorded a 6-0, 6-2 decision over her opponent at No. 4 for her eighth win. Morgan whitewashed her opponent by a 6-0, 6-0 score in the No. 5 match for her eighth win of the season, and Fulton posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 for win number seven this fall.

Penn State Altoona women's tennis will return to the road for its next match, traveling to play non-conference opponent Penn College on Friday, October 3 at 4:30 p.m.
