Lions Beat Bobcats 5-2

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team returned home to the Adler Tennis Courts this Sunday afternoon to face Pitt Greensburg. After solid performances from the team, the Lions would beat the Bobcats 5-2.  

The Lions (10-1, 3-1 AMCC) and Bobcats (2-5, 2-2 AMCC) would each get one point from doubles. Caitlin Blessel (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys)/Abigail Morgan (Orrville, OH/Orrville) would win 6-3 in No. 1 doubles. In No. 3 doubles, Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area)/Daniel Fulton (Milford, DE/Milford) would shutout their opponents 6-0. 

In singles, Penn State Altoona would win four out of six. In No. 3 singles, Sienna Fell (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan) would win the first set 6-3 and would prevail in the set tiebreaker 10-8. Morgan would her second set 6-1 and her tiebreaker set 10-8 in No. 4 singles. Fulton would blank his opponent 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 singles. In No. 6 singles, Mara Del Valle (Colombia / Walt Whitman) would beat her opponent 6-0, 6-1.  

Up next, the Penn State Altoona women's tennis team begins a two-game road trip as they face Penn State Harrisburg Friday, October 5. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
