Men’s Volleyball Ties for Second in AMCC Preseason Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona men's volleyball team was voted into a tie for second place in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released on Tuesday morning.

Penn State Behrend was voted into first place by league coaches, while Penn State Altoona shared the second spot with Buffalo State University, which is entering its first year as a member of the AMCC in men's volleyball.

Named as "Players to Watch" this upcoming season for Penn State Altoona were sophomore setter Mason Grover (Penfield, NY/Penfield) and sophomore outside hitter Owen Pratt (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen).

Grover led the AMCC in assists per set (9.18) last season while ranking third in total assists (863) and seventh in service aces (34) and aces per set (0.36). Pratt finished last season ranked 40th in the conference in kills per set (1.26), 43rd in total kills (86), 48th in hitting percentage (.141) and points per set (1.4), and 52nd in total points (92.5).

Penn State Altoona begins its 2025 season at home next Friday, January 17, at 6 p.m., when the Lions will host non-conference opponent Roanoke College.
