Women's Soccer Reaches Achievement in Win Against Panthers

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team returned to Spring Run Stadium Saturday afternoon, where they faced Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Pitt Bradford. After a slow start, the Lions beat the Panthers 2-0.

There were shots but no goals in the first half. Penn State Altoona (4-4-4, 1-1-2 AMCC) would have the advantage, firing off eight shots (four of them on goal), compared to Pitt Bradford's (1-8, 0-4 AMCC) three (one of which was on goal).

Things would open up more in the second half for the Lions as Grace Turner would punch the ball through for Ivory MoDavis to make the score 1-0 in the 58th minute. Five minutes later, the Lions would add to their lead off a corner as Kira Trexler would cross the ball for Taylor Frederick to put in.

After that, Penn State Altoona would hold on for the 2-0 win. The win would mark 100 wins for head coach Pam Snyder-Etters. Penn State Altoona Athletics would like to congratulate Coach Snyder-Etters on her incredible achievement.

Goalkeeper Mya Torres would start between the sticks for the Lions, making four saves. Offensively, Kira Trexler, Jordan Yaletsko, Taylor Frederick, and Rachel Rutkowski would all get two shots on goal. MoDavis, Erin McCarrie, and Kira Knox each had one shot on goal.

Up next, the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team travels up to New York to face Alfred State. The match is set to take place next Saturday, October 18, at 1:00 p.m.
