Women's Soccer Draws Hawks 0-0 on Senior Day
ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team competed in their senior day game Saturday afternoon against Hilbert. Despite the Lions having chances, the game finished 0-0.
Before the game, seniors Hailey Yaletsko (Philadelphia, PA / Philadelphia Academy Charter), Jordan Yaletsko (Philadelphia, PA / Philadelphia Academy Charter), and Rachel Rutkowski (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan) were honored for their contributions to Penn State Altoona women's soccer.
In the first half, shots were even between Hilbert (6-7-3, 2-4-2 AMCC) and Penn State Altoona (5-5-5, 2-2-3 AMCC), with both teams having six shots.
In the second half, the tide would shift immensely. Penn State Altoona would get 10 shots off, forcing five saves from goalkeeper Keira McFarland. The Lions' best chance of the half would come in the 63rd minute, as Taylor Frederick (Mifflinburg, PA/Mifflinburg) forced a fine save from McFarland.
Mya Torres (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper County) returned to goal, making four saves. Ava Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy), Ivory MoDavis (Bethlehem, PA/Southern Lehigh), Bridget Martin (Manheim, PA / Manheim Central), and Kira Knox (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) all had one shot on goal for the Lions, while Frederick had five shots on goal.
Up next, the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team travels to Pittsburgh to face the La Roche Redhawks on Tuesday, October 28. The game is set to kick off at 4:00 p.m.
