Women's Soccer Blanks Celtics 2-0
ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team returned to Spring Run Stadium Wednesday evening to face Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Carlow. The Lions would dominate the game offensively, winning 2-0.
The Lions (5-5-4, 2-2-2 AMCC) dominated much of the first half offensively, getting 12 shots to Carlow's (1-11-1, 0-6-1 AMCC) 3. In the 42nd minute, Penn State Altoona would be rewarded, with Kylei Martin (Mifflinburg, PA/Mifflinburg) setting up Emma Spanik for the game's first goal.
Penn State Altoona kept up the momentum in the second half, getting another 12 shots off, forcing nine saves from Carlow goalkeeper Elizabeth Knight. One of those shots would pay off for the Lions, as Ivory MoDavis (Bethlehem, PA/Southern Lehigh) would score the Lions' second goal of the game in the 71st minute.
The Lions would have four more shots, but no more goals as the game finished 2-0.
Quinn DeAntonio (Altoona, PA/Altoona) would make her first collegiate start in net, making one save and keeping a clean sheet. Camryn Morley (Coatesville, PA / Coatesville), Spanik, and MoDavis would each have three shots on goal. Taylor Frederick (Mifflinburg, PA / Mifflinburg) would have five shots on goal, Kira Knox would have two, and Bridget Martin (Manheim, PA / Manheim Central) would have one for the Lions.
The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team remains at home for their next game against Hilbert. They will face the Hawks this Saturday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m., but come early because the team will be honoring the seniors before kickoff.
